The Wood Centre for Innovation
Project Goal
The Oxford Trust is an independent charitable trust that was established in 1985 with the mission to encourage the pursuit of science and enterprise.
Located in Headington’s Health & Life Sciences District, a thriving science & tech community, Oxford Trust’s Wood Centre for Innovation offers a wide range of flexible work spaces to grow local business.
Our responsibilities included Consultancy, design, and delivery of the life sciences incubator space.
Skills & Results
The Oxford Trust approached Bulb to seek advice on the feasibility of office to laboratory conversion at the Wood Centre for Innovation in Headington, Oxford. The idea was to convert a wing of individual office spaces into multiple CL2 labs for a thriving start-up and spin-off life sciences community in Oxfordshire.
We not only provided advice on the MEP (mechanical, electrical & plumbing) strategy for the potential conversion but designed labs to suit individual tenants, including a science training lab and a shared facility with liquid Nitrogen storage, a cold room, and a dark room. Other services included external gas storage and emergency supply for the critical equipment.
WCFI and their tenants were delighted with the final result and are planning a next phase of expansion.
